VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwired – April 24, 2017) – Ten Peaks Coffee Company Inc. („Ten Peaks” or the „Company”) (TSX:TPK) today announced that it has restated and re-filed with applicable Canadian securities regulators its audited consolidated financial statements and related management’s discussion and analysis (MD&A) for the year ended December 31, 2016. Subsequent to issuing its 2016 consolidated financial statements on March 15, 2017, the Company determined that the unrealized gain on derivative financial instruments had been added in the calculation of cash from operating activities before changes in non-cash working capital accounts, when it should have been subtracted. The correction results in a decrease in cash from operating activities before changes in non-cash working capital accounts of $3.5 million, and a corresponding increase of $3.5 million in changes in non-cash working capital. The restatement only affects the consolidated statement of cash flows, and does not impact net cash generated from operating activities. Accordingly, there is no change to the Company’s consolidated statements of financial position, income, comprehensive income or changes in equity. The restatement does not change net income, earnings per share or EBITDA for the period.

These common shares were acquired by Madalena pursuant to the sale of the Company’s Canadian oil and gas assets in June 2016 and will be released from escrow in 20% increments in six month intervals commencing July 2017. Closing of the Transaction will take place in two equal tranches. The first tranche was completed on April 24, 2017 and the second tranche is expected to close on or about May 25, 2017.

U.S. Lumber Industry Applauds Commerce Department Finding of Massive Canadian Subsidies

WASHINGTON, April 24, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The U.S. Department of Commerce today announced a preliminary determination in response to a petition filed in November 2016 by the Committee Overseeing Action for Lumber International Trade Investigations or Negotiations (COALITION).  The United States government ruling substantiates that Canada subsidizes softwood lumber production, distorting the U.S. softwood lumber market to the detriment of U.S. sawmills, their employees and communities. 

Under U.S. trade laws and its international trade agreements, the U.S. industry has a right to offsetting duties.  The Department of Commerce found the following rates of subsidization: Canfor, 20.26 percent; J.D. Irving, 3.02 percent; Resolute, 12.82 percent; Tolko, 19.50 percent; West Fraser, 24.12 percent; All other producers/exporters, 19.88 percent.

The Department of Commerce is still considering U.S. industry claims that Canadian lumber is also dumped in the U.S. market.  Dumping duties are added to countervailing duties imposed to offset subsidies.  A preliminary antidumping ruling is scheduled for June 23, 2017.

"Today's ruling confirms that Canadian lumber mills are subsidized by their government and benefit from timber pricing policies and other subsidies which harm U.S. manufacturers and workers," said Coalition Legal Chair Cameron Krauss, Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs of family-owned Seneca Sawmill in Eugene, Oregon. 

"We appreciate today's actions by the Department of Commerce, which has examined massive amounts of evidence presented by the COALITION, the Canadian industry and the Canadian Federal and provincial governments.  The COALITION is hopeful that the duties imposed by today's decision will begin the process of creating a level playing field for the future and allow for U.S. manufacturers to make essential investments and expand the domestic lumber industry to its natural market and protect and grow the jobs that are so essential to our workers and our communities," added Krauss.

The COALITION is an ad hoc association composed of the U.S. Lumber Coalition, a number of domestic softwood lumber manufacturers in their individual capacity, timberland owners, and the Carpenters Industrial Council of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.  The petition was supported by producers accounting for nearly 70 percent of all softwood lumber produced in the United States (excluding companies that are related to Canadian producers).

Global flight search and travel deals website, Cheapflights, has given ‘Esc’ keyboard keys everywhere a new lease of life with the launch of its innovative ‘EscEscape’ (pronounced ‘Escape Escape’) browser extension tool, putting a range of short getaway options just two-taps away from users.

Launching in Australia as well as New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, Canada and South Africa, ‘EscEscape’ is a free-to-install extension for Google Chrome users. When a user taps their ‘Esc’ key twice, a live flight search runs to find the cheapest, quickest and smartest return flights to nearby destinations. Results are pulled from Cheapflights’ own search engine API and the users’ nearest airport is detected as their departure point. The flight results open in a new browser tab and will be the cheapest option for a weekend break in the next eight weeks. The user is then free to go ahead and book if they like the look of what they see – if not, another ‘double tap’ of the ‘Esc’ key throws up a new option.

Initially, a choice of five destinations will be featured each day, selected at random from the top 200 searched-for holiday hot spots on the Cheapflights website and app, per market. For departures from Australia, popular getaway destinations within an eight-hour flight are displayed, such as Fiji.

“We can spend hours every day tapping away at a keyboard, dealing with dozens of unread emails, thinking it’s Thursday when it’s only Tuesday. According to our research, that’s enough to drive over half of us to search for flights when we’re at work.

“With ‘EscEscape’, we’ve made it that much easier to do. We want this neglected keyboard function to become the biggest and most important key people tap each day,” said Shelton.
