Globalstar, Inc, a leading provider of mobile satellite voice and data services to businesses, government, and customers, informed that it has signed a joint venture agreement with Arion Communication Co., Ltd., a leading provider of mobile satellite voice and data products and services to maritime customers in Korea. The new joint venture company known as Globalstar Asia Pacific will operate the Globalstar gateway ground station in Korea and provide Simplex and duplex mobile satellite voice and data services including SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger(TM) products and services to consumers in Korea and the surrounding maritime region.

“All of us at Globalstar are excited about our new relationship with Arion Communication Co., Ltd. and we anticipate this is just the beginning of a long and profitable relationship that solidifies and builds our presence in Eastern Asia,” informed Peter Dalton, Chief Executive Officer, Globalstar, Inc. “This joint venture combines Arion’s expertise in delivering maritime messaging and vessel monitoring solutions with Globalstar’s ability to provide high quality and affordable mobile satellite services to areas beyond the reach of terrestrial wireless communications. Together we look forward to further expanding the market for both our Simplex and duplex mobile satellite services and SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger consumer products throughout Korea and the surrounding area.”

“We are very delighted to partner with Globalstar in establishing the joint venture company, Globalstar Asia Pacific,” said Tony Park, CEO of Arion Communication Co. Ltd., and Globalstar Asia Pacific. “We are confident that with the launch of the second-generation satellites beginning this summer, Globalstar will bring a huge paradigm shift in the market, having previously attained the single largest mobile satellite services market share position in the region. We also expect the new SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger and next-generation high speed duplex data communications services, which have not been provided in Korea before, will play a key role in expanding Globalstar’s market share exponentially.”

The two companies formed Globalstar Asia Pacific to acquire the existing gateway in Seoul from LG Telecom, which has been Globalstar’s service provider in the region since 2001. The acquisition and license transfer are subject to approval by the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) which is expected in the next few weeks. According to the agreement Arion Communication will also provide Globalstar mobile satellite voice and data products and services in Korea. Globalstar, Inc. plans to deliver the necessary engineering and technical training and personnel support necessary for Globalstar Asia Pacific to operate the Korean Globalstar gateway.

Globalstar Informes About Launch Dates for Second-Generation Constellation Satellites

Globalstar, Inc. (Nasdaq:GSAT), a leading provider of mobile satellite voice and data services to businesses, governments and customers, informed that the first 90-day window to launch six Globalstar second-generation satellites will start on July 5, 2010. Globalstar predicts launch of the new satellites during this time. The satellites will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan using the Soyuz launch vehicle. The human-rated Soyuz is used to ferry astronauts and cosmonauts to the International Space Station and Globalstar has previously used it eight times to successfully put satellites into orbit.

“Confirmation of this second-generation satellite launch window is another significant milestone for the company as we prepare for our new constellation,” informed Tony Navarra, President of Global Operations, Globalstar, Inc. “Our validation tests of the satellite subsystems and thermal vacuum tests have been successfully completed and we are on schedule to begin launching our satellites this summer.”

In the summer of 2007, Globalstar inked a launch services contract with Arianespace for Globalstar’s second-generation constellation. These satellites will be integrated with the Globalstar satellites launched on the Soyuz in 2007. Globalstar’s customers will experience improvements in service as the new satellites are progressively brought into commercial service. Once the new constellation is deployed, Globalstar expects its service will return to the industry-leading voice quality and reliability levels that consumers received prior to 2007. The new constellation also secures Globalstar’s space segment beyond 2025, providing the Company with the ability to deliver both legacy and enhanced next-generation satellite voice and data services for at least the next 15 years.

Globalstar Prepares for Launch of Second Generation Satellites

Globalstar (News – Alert), Inc. a provider of mobile satellite voice and data services to commercial enterprises has reportedly informed the commencement of satellite telemetry control unit upgrades installation prior to the launch of its new second-generation satellites.

According to the announcement, the pre-launch upgraded hardware and software versions are being delivered by Thales (News – Alert) Alenia Space. The upgraded versions are being installed at various Globalstar gateway ground facilities located in Argentina, Australia, Botswana, France, Korea and United States. The upgrade will help Globalstar observe and manage the orbital positioning of the proposed satellites expected to be launched during the beginning of current summer.

“The TCU gateway upgrades represent a significant milestone for the company as we prepare for the launch of our new satellites,” Peter Dalton, CEO, Globalstar, Inc., informed. “We anticipate that 2010 will be a game-changing year for Globalstar. We expect to continue introducing new consumer Simplex solutions such as the new satellite GPS communicator we announced jointly with DeLorme last week at the Consumer Electronics Show.”

The planned gateway upgrades help pave the way for the launch and management of our new satellites and all the potential associated with our next-generation constellation, Dalton informed. Once deployed, the company will not only continue building upon its reputation as the leading provider of high-quality consumer simplex satellite GPS and messaging products, but also re-focus our energies on providing world-class two-way satellite voice and duplex data solutions.

The installed telemetry control unit upgrades will give Globalstar improved capabilities to communicate and monitor the conditions of the satellites when they are deployed and start operating. Globalstar is planning to perform the control operations from its two control centers located in California. The new satellites, when they become functional, will let Globalstar leverage advanced capabilities of inherited global satellite services past 2025.

Globalstar is catering to the satellite voice data services needs of over 375,000 commercial and recreational subscribers in 120 plus countries all around the globe. Globalstar also meet the requirements of clients from oil and gas, government agencies, mining, forestry, fishing, military, transportation, big constructions and utilities.
