Norsat satellite systems used in Chilean mine rescue broadcasts

Norsat International Inc. said that some members of the media circus surrounding 33 trapped miners in a remote part of Chile for two-and-a-half months has the company’s satellite technology to thank for keeping the lines of communications open.The Richmond-based company said three of its portable satellite units were in action at the San Jose Mine in Chile, helping Disaster Truck, Televisa and CBS’ London bureau broadcast news updates.
