Hughes Introduces Advanced 9350 BGAN Terminal

Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services, today announced the availability of the Hughes 9350 BGAN mobile satellite terminal, fully type-approved for operation over Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) satellite service. Ideal for vehicular applications in the most demanding environments, the Hughes 9350 offers high-performance connectivity at data rates of up to 400 kbps and is the most cost-effective device of its kind on the market.

The Hughes 9350 is ideal for emergency responders, reporters, and mobile workers who need reliable, high-speed connectivity on the move, such as:

- First responders and public safety workers
- Mobile healthcare technicians
- Corporate disaster planners
- Remote field personnel

Collaborate with staff back at headquarters using video, voice, and data simultaneously. Create a wireless hot spot for team members on the scene using the built-in Wi-Fi Access Point. The Hughes 9350 is IP compatible and offers selectable, dedicated Quality of Service levels. And it’s easy to install on any vehicle—the compact tracking antenna is packaged with a magnetic roof mount and a single cable connection.

The Hughes 9350 allows you to send and receive IP packet data via Ethernet and WLAN interfaces in a land-vehicular application. In parallel with the packet data services, the same terminal supports a circuit switched voice call or a 64 kbps ISDN data call.

  • Justin: I’m currently working on Camp Eggers in Kabul, Afghanistan. I wanted to know if there was a price sheet for equipment and service somewhere on the site? The hope is to get a VSat connection at 512k or 1024k down. Please advise and thanks in advance.
  • Joseph: My wife is deployed to Iraq. I would like to get some more information regarding the cost of service and equipment of BGAN or which ever service is best for personal internet access. I would also like to know the bandwidth rates of both the upstream and down stream, and if there is a Fair Access Polilicy.
