SimbaNET Nigeria, a service provider and systems integrator based in Africa, has reportedly launched an iDirect network over Nigeria and West Africa.

IDirect is a major player in satellite-based IP communications technology. SimbaNET is a licensed VSAT operator in Nigeria specialized in providing high speed data and Internet connectivity to government, ISPs, telecom carriers, mobile operators, network providers and corporate enterprises.

SimbaNET Nigeria has installed an iDirect hub and purchased capacity on multiple satellites to provide high-speed data and Internet broadband over VSAT.

IDirect, a subsidiary of VT Systems, said that it is transforming the way the world gets and stays connected. The company’s satellite-based IP communications technology enables constant connectivity for voice, video and data applications in diverse and challenging environments.

Back in October, VT iDirect announced that IDMI, the international arm of Lebanon’s Internet Service Provider, IDM, has launched an iDirect-based satellite broadband service covering the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Asia.

IDMI’s iDirect-based service provides Ku-band connectivity via the SES New Skies NSS-6 satellite orbiting over the EMEA region and an iDirect hub co-located at the Cyta-Makarios teleport in Cyprus.

IDMI will initially roll out services in Afghanistan, Iraq, and East and South Asia, with plans to expand the network in Africa with additional hubs later this year. The new offering brings high-speed connectivity to corporate enterprises, financial institutions and government organizations as they continue to rely on satellite communications to advance vital telecommunications infrastructure.

What are the initial and monthly costs for your service and is there an option for a self installation. If you need more data to answer my questions please contact me.
  • James: I am looking into getting satellite internet for my platoon and I. There would be appx 20 people wanting to get it for now, but may be a lot more later. It would be used for email, messenger, skype voip etc…. I was wondering if you could get me an estimate on what the startup costs and monthly fees would be. Thank you very much for your time.
