Thuraya Expands European Broadband Base.
Thuraya Telecommunications Company has expanded the distribution chain for its competitive satellite broadband services in Europe.
The provision of Thuraya’s mobile satellite handhelds by Applied Satellite Technology (AST) has been extended to Thuraya’s broadband service, “ThurayaIP” and other solutions based on it. The U.K.-based satellite communications provider will now be distributing ThurayaIP in Europe and other global markets.
ThurayaIP is the world’s smallest broadband solution that is uniquely A5 sized with transmission speeds of up to 444 Kbps and was the first satellite broadband terminal to achieve video streaming speeds of up to 384 Kbps. ThurayaIP has several versatile solutions that include ThurayaNetted Comms and ThurayaLease, which are crafted for specialized use. Backed by a congestion free network, ThurayaIP delivers efficient broadband service within Thuraya’s 140 country coverage area that spans from Iceland to Australia.
