Eutelsat Has Plans To Close German Broadband Gaps.
The German state of Brandenburg has plans to close its broadband gaps with the help of satellite operator Eutelsat by the end of the year.
As partner in the initiative “broadband supply for rural areas”, Eutelsat will allow to interested companies and households in Brandenburg the hardware for its internet-via-satellite service Tooway free of charge via its retail partners skyDSL and dsl2u. A data rate of up to 3.6 Mbit/s will be available with monthly costs of €39.95 for a 2-year contract.
The offer is targeted at residents of the several hundred communities in Brandenburg which have no or only insufficient broadband access. “Internet via satellite is available at any time and in any place. It is the most economic and efficient broadband access solution for unserved or inaccessible regions in Germany”, informed Volker Steiner, managing director of Eutelsat Deutschland. “With this initiative Eutelsat is supporting the broadband strategy of Germany’s Federal and State Governments with a sustainable and lasting solution.”
